Certification of authenticity of a copy of the document

The person who needs to certify the authenticity of a copy of the documents submits to the notary the original of the document, the copy of which needs to be certified, and the documents by which the notary can identify the person who applied to him.

According to the current legislation, this action can be performed in any state notary office, that is, the general rule of territorial competence applies. Authenticity of copies of documents can be certified by private notaries, and abroad by consular institutions. In settlements where there are no notaries, officials of the executive committees of village, settlement, and city councils have the right to certify the authenticity of copies of the document, except for documents intended for action abroad.

With a request to certify the authenticity of a document, the notary can apply to the notary as the owner of the document himself, and (by proxy) another person who must have the document certifying him with him, and not the citizen whose copies of the documents will be certified.

Certifying the authenticity of copies of documents, the notary must establish the identity of the citizen who applied for the performance of a notarial act.
